GEEK THOUGHTS, GEEK STUFF, GEEK LIFE

Serenity VCD (Honk Kong)

serenity_hongkong.jpgIf you want to be a completist but prefer to pay for your ripped copy, you can buy the Hong Kong VCD version of Serenity for a lot cheaper than the DVD. This is the complete movie in English, with Chinese subtitles.

The quality of VCDs cary wildly but generally they're about the level of a good video copy. Most VCD movies are on 2 discs (as this is) because you can only get about 70 minutes of video on a CD. Many DVD players will play it, as will your computer and some handheld players.

However, I have no idea if Universal or our BDHs see any revenue from this. Just sayin'.

  • DC announces that one of their iconic characters will be gay. I'd be more impressed if they told us which one wasn't.
  • Seriously, over 1300 words, with annotations, to insist that I don't mind having books or movies spoiled for me? Oddly, I still do.
  • Yet another anti-spoiler argument that insists everyone must enjoy artistic works exactly the same way, always. http://t.co/X3zwZ0BJ
  • Am I allowed to commit 3 felonies today or just 2? I haven't kept up on the latest legislative changes.
