GEEK THOUGHTS, GEEK STUFF, GEEK LIFE

Firefly Fanomenon

browncoats_ribbon.jpgLast June I got the opportunity to attend one of the advance screenings for Serenity in Tampa, Florida. We hooked up with some friends and joined the other Browncoats waiting in the theater. They had us roped off to one side where we sat in line, singing "The Hero of Canton" and trading quotes and generally getting our geek on.

browncoats_lanyard.jpgAfter awhile I noticed more and more people wearing brown lanyards with "BROWNCOATS FIREFLY SERENITY" written on them, and brown ribbon pins that read "Browncoat." And just ahead of them was a woman wearing several of each. I took a chance and approached, cash in hand, and that's how I met Aleta "FireflyGal" Vinas.

She's still selling both, and they're a great bargain. The ribbon pin is solid, 2" long, and durable enough to use as an auxilliary engine part. The lanyard (Beethoven not included) is ideal for holding your convention pass, security ID, or nuclear launch key. Each one is $5.00, which includes U.S. postage.

To buy, just write her at Fireflygal1@hotmail.com and ask, or go to Out to the Black Outfitters and order them online.
