Just noticed this at whedonesque.com: on May 4th there's a Firefly starter set DVD coming out in Germany with the first two episodes on it. No extras, apparently no subtitles, in German, but it's under 5 euros (little over 6 bucks American). Not bad!

This is the equivalent of the Buffy starter sets you may have seen in the cheap racks at Target. When the entire season DVD is only $25 (as it is, at the moment, at both Amazon and Wal-Mart, among others) this may not seem like a great deal, but the German edition of the Firefly season set is 48,95 EUR, about $60. This is a great way to entice people to watch the show, and could you have watched the first two episodes (in order) and not wanted to see the whole season?

BTW – Serenity has dropped to #32 on Amazon's Top DVD Seller list, but Firefly still holds steady at #11. This cheers me up like you wouldn't believe.
