GEEK THOUGHTS, GEEK STUFF, GEEK LIFE

So what do you folks want?

Up till now I've been running weekly trivia contests for inexpensive single items (cards), and monthly giveaways of three pricier items (shirts, posters, collectibles). I'm out of the small stuff…

I'm thinking of sticking with the one-item-per-week giveaway, as long as I can get stuff, with no limits on what those items might be. Could be a button, could be an evening with Adam Baldwin (but probably won't be). But what I wanted to ask was, do you folks prefer plain old random giveaways, or did you like the trivia? Or would you like to see something else?

Yep, I'm letting you decide the terms upon which I'll just give you stuff, can't get much fairer than that. Post your comments and we'll go from there.

I say keep the trivia. Makes me revisit the books and commentaries.

    You have contests? Where?

  • Terry L says:

I vote for the random draw…..always fun and everyone gets an equal chance.

    contest

hmmmmmmmm……. trivia is good, as is radndomicity
    both?

I really like the way it's been going now.
    One thing though…

It seems as the one year anniversary of the BDM passes, along with the tightening down of… gray-market trade by the Alliance, sorry, FOX, that news has slowed down in the last few weeks.

Maybe, coming up to Halloween, you could do little bits on piecing together costumes of the BDHs?

I like the mix of trivia and randomness. Sometimes I like to work for it (especially when I already know the answer ;) )

  • mrben says:

I like a bit of both too.

    Although I don't like in US/Canada, so I can't enter :(

I like the trivia, it gives us a chance to go through our vast database of stored trial database of all things Firefly/ Serenity, or we just might look them up, or rewatch the DVDs. When the trivia in answered, you put all the correct answers together and pick randomly correct?

  • Scott Kaas says:

I vote for both :) Maybe a tough Trivia question for the whole month and just randomness for 3 other weeks?

  • Gojiro says:

I vote for random. Less work for you, less work for us. I'm just lazy, I guess!

  • Kris says:

Well, since I actually won one of the random drawings, I must admit I'm a bit partial to them. ALthough I do get upset when some people post a single character just to get themselves entered. But I always enjoy the trivia questions too, so I wouldn't have a problem either way.

  • tim Brown says:

I say go with both. Sometimes ya needs a challenge, sometimes ya don't. I never seem to win anyway, so what the heck.

  • Kim says:

I am all for the "equal chance" thing, but trivia can be fun. If you don't know the answer to one, you can come back and look at the answer and say "Hey, I didn't know that, that's really interesting". I'm partial for both.

Maybe have a random drawing for a large reward, so everyone has a chance to win, but trivia for the smaller items like cards and keychains. Just my thoughts.

I like the trivia cos it makes me flex my mental muscles (Jayne can you spot for me please?)
Random is also good but Im with mrben in saying its not fair that outside of US/Canada can't enter. Boo Hoo! I'd happily pay for postage if it meant I could spend an evening with Adam Baldwin! Ha ha!

  • Charlotte says:

I would actually really like some of the contests to be available for people outside of the US/Canada, I mean I personally wouldn't mind paying for shipping/handling. I think it should at least be an option

  • DaniMorgan says:

Daedalus42 has picked up on something there.
Yeah, ok, Its nice that you set these competitions an all, but its not kinda like the bee n and all. I mean, the only reason I started visiting daily was to get news on my favourite 'verse, and Serenity Stuff is by far the BEST news source I have found.
So to me, the competition is nice, but not all (plus I live in the UK, so winning stuff aint happening for me anyway)

  • Trivia RULES! Keep it up and as a past winner, my thanks as always!

  • jae says:

im up for anything that lets people from places other then US and canada enter as well.
