One Operative sword, slightly used

prop_bloodcoveredfightsword.jpg

Looking for the finest in kitchen utensils? This excellent aluminium blade has a black plastic handle with black cord inlaid to give you that firm grip you need. There's a repeating rectangular pattern along the top edge for style (note: the cutting edge has been blunted for safety, do not use on your tomatoes).

This particular model is covered with some sort of Mal or Operative (or both) residue. No indication if there's a markdown for that…

The repeating rectangular pattern along the top of the blade are actually blood relief slots. They perform the same function as a blood groove in a bayonet, relieving pressure as the weapon is driven into a human body. So the Operativbe sword is a piercing weapon as well as a slashing weapon. By example, broadswords and Ninja swords are both slashing weapons (admittedly on opposite ends of the finesse spectrum) whereas a calvaryman's rapier has a blood groove for poking as well as slashing.

Just a little edged weapon trivia…
