Can't Stop the Prototype

prop_perspexcard.jpgThe Prop Store of London is offering a prototype of the message block seen in Serenity, which is pretty cool, although since I recall seeing this a couple of times before I have to wonder if they had a lot of them or if this is the same one, getting sold back and forth, traveling the globe in search of a home… which, come to think of it, is also pretty cool.

Anyway, it's made from Perspex with a silvery circuit board pattern on one side. There is a slight chip in the side of the Perspex. Measures approx. 12cm x 8.5cm x 1.5cm (4.75" x 3.25" x 0.5").

One must always be wary of anything that is placed for sale online. I have seen several "props" on sites that are fake. It doesn't matter if the site is a well known site or not. I once saw a few fake items listed on a Hollywood Auction. This same auction was the one that sold original Star Wars pieces for over 10 grand a crack. The fake stuff consisted of smaller items that didn't gain much attention, and most of them didn't sell anyway.

A good key to knowing if something is fake is to check Ebay. If you see an item being sold may times over, and then you see that same item show up on a major auction, you would want to call the auction house and figure out what kind of proof they have of it being truly authentic (and not just a piece of paper from the auction house).

In the end, always use your own best judgment.

  • Ha ha ha ha… Very funny. I liked it a lot.
