Steven Brust still planning Firefly novel

Author: Steven Brust, author of the popular Dragaeran Series, “Cowboy Feng’s Space Bar and Grille,” and many others, is still planning on releasing his already-written Firefly novel one way or another. From his LJ post:
In other news, I'm finishing up a last polish on the Firefly novel, after which I'll send it to my agent, and, presumably, some time after that I'll figure out how to publish it as fanfic. Those who know, hang on to your information for a little while.
Having heard the first chapter, I'm… well, we'll go with "eager" because "pathetically happy, with a bit of drool", accurate though it may be, doesn't sound as good.

Speaking of fanfic, when are we getting the next chapter of your's?
(And exuse the extra apostrophe). But seriosly – make with the next chapter! Wait – by any chance did you have only a single hard copy version of the completed story? And was it burned by Kathy Bates after she kidnapped and "hobbled" you? If so, that explains the delay, and all is forgiven.
Now that's a big yay!
It'll be interesting to see how Brust's publication (in whatever form it takes) further blurs the line between published fiction and fanfic.
