Yeah, not Dan Brown. The producers will only say that it is "someone who has appeared on the show" which strikes out the actual show-writers, but opens the door to the many guest authors that have been on there (Dan Brown is not one of them). Best bets are James Patterson and Stephen J. Cannell (both are quoted on the actual book). I've read both -- my money is on Cannell. Rest in Peace, dude, you gave us a lot of joy.

[...] Richard Castle’s Heat Wave is a light-read, and it’s totally recommendable as something to read while juggling work deadlines. But, as I always say, this is just my opinion. Check out a few more that can be found at Suite 101, Steph the Bookworm blog, and Bashing in Minds! [...]

Actually, I think that Dan Brown was not the writer, but one of the show's actual writers named Tom something or other. I haven't read it yet, but I am betting that the information inside the book's covers and dedication stuff will tell us.

Great idea by whoever came up with actually writing it!! I can't wait for 24 episodes for season 3!!!!

Penny was absolutely correct. What killed Moonlighting was when the sexual tension ended between the main characters. This is a brilliant way for people to see what could happen between Castle and Beckett without it destroying the situational comedy of the show.

I have read the book, on my nook, and aside from a couple of typos and the aforementioned writing style, it was worth it for me to catch another angle on an outstanding television series.

I enjoy the series, and I enjoyed listening the the audio version of the book. It's not "literature", it's just a story that makes the tv series more exciting. Has anyone considered that this is a way of getting the two lead characters together without actually getting them together? Now they can keep the tension on the series going indefinitely, and let off steam with well timed books. It's brilliant!

I'm a writer, and I love to read. The Whedonverse is the best thing i've ever seen in my years, I love every thing he's ever touched and I wish that the rest of the world saw his genius. From his products I then noticed Nathan Fillion and became a fan of his work.

That being said I wont' be buying the book. I agree, Dan Brown should NOT be a famous writer. His books are the exact same thing, with a different cover laid over it. Reading 'Angels & Demons' and then reading the 'DaVinci Code' was like reading the same book. I'm very displeased that they got Dan Brown to write it, had Nathan Fillion been the actual writer I would haev bought it in a second.

In closing, not a fan. And Dan Brown sucks. ;)

Bought the book. Love it. A fun thing about it is reading and then thinking about what Roach will do after they read the book. What Alexis will say to her father. I think his mom will love her scene because a certain asset mentioned. Is Beckett gonna hit Castle with the book, kill him, torture him or tease him for Chapter 10!

Just got it to support the show and for Nathan Fillion picture on the back. I hope to one day have him sign it. Never read a mystery/murder book...only fantasy and scifi books. So am amazed I loved it and really glad I bought.

"but if nothing else watch it for Fillion's charm and the novelty of finally seeing him on a show in its second season."

That's great! While I would have preferred a second season of Firefly, Castle is still a great show.

Thanks for that review. I was thinking about buying this book, since I am a huge fan of the show, but it sounds like I won't have to bother. I actually expected something along the lines of Dan Brown's style. Too bad I seem to have been right.
Too bad about the audio version. If Nathan had read it I would still have given it a try, even without any big expectations as to the actual content of the story.
Ah well, I rather go on watching the show itself.
