You Want This roundup: The Guild comic, Dollhouse props, Samuel L. Jackson app
Having taken over the Internet, The Guild is coming to comics! And you can preorder yours for 20% off from TFAW.com.
Chronicling the hilarious on- and offline lives of a group of Internet role-playing gamers, the Knights of Good, The Guild has become a cult hit and is the winner of numerous awards from SXSW, YouTube, Yahoo, and the Streamys. Now Day brings the wit and heart of the show to this three-issue miniseries. In this origin tale of the Knights of Good, we learn about Cyd's life before joining the guild, how she became Codex, and how she began to meet the other players who would eventually become her teammates. This storyline fills in details never before revealed on the web show, making it a delightful new chapter for existing fans as well as a perfect jumping-on point for new fans!
(Pictured is the Georges Jeanty cover; you can also order the Cary Nord one.)

With the passing of a show comes the chance for picking up momentoes. FOX is auctioning off Dollhouse props and costumes. Get dresses and shoes from Echo, Bennett and Adele, a suit from Ballard, Adele's tea set, Topher's sneakers, an all-access pass to the Rayna concert from "Stage Fright"… Lots of great stuff from what has become a truly amazing show.

Finally, we discover what the iPhone was made for: taking Samuel L. Jackson wherever you go.
There have been lots of celebrity apps — Pink, Kevin Smith — but they all shared a similar problem. They talk to you. They tell you just what the celebrity is doing or saying or simply wanting you to know. But with iSamJackson you finally get someone on your side, making you cooler by extension than you ever would be without him.
OK, frankly if this was anyone but Sam Jackson it wouldn't work. But it is, and it does.
Preorder the Dr. Horrible maquette, get it cheaper
TFAW.com now has QMX's Dr. Horrible maquette available for preorder for 20% off the retail price.
Cast in professional-grade resin and painted by hand, Dr. Horrible is pictured in his moment of triumph, holding his Freeze Ray aloft in one hand and shaking his fist at the world. As with all QMx animated maquettes, Dr. Horrible comes with many screen-accurate details, such as his goggles, the medical symbol on his smock and, of course, the aforementioned deanimation gun. He stands over six inches tall–nine, if you include his weapon. Freeze Ray. Tell your friends.
Dr. Horrible comes in an edition of 1,000 statues and is the first in a series of limited-edition maquettes based on the characters of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
You need this on your desk to terrorize your coworkers and remind them that you have friends (or, rather, allies) in high, evil places.
Retail is $69.95, but if you preorder you get it for $55.96. You'd be criminally insane not to.
Serenity gets small at QMx
Not content with making the biggest, most detailed Serenity model to date, QMx is also working on the smallest. Just promo-ed at FireflyShipworks.com, the yet-to-be-released Firefly Keychain.
Cast is solid metal, the keychain has real heft to it. We used the studio CG effects files, shrunk down to a ridiculous extent, to capture the design, but obviously had to make many tweaks along the way. But our designers love a challenge, and we just couldn’t resist the idea of a Serenity that fits in your pocket and that you can carry around with you, where ever you go.
No word yet on when this will hit your pocket, but I'm ready to buy one now. Check out the post for more pics.
Dr. Horrible is here!
And by "here" I mean at "QMx."
Since they announced they had the Dr. Horrible license we've been waiting to see what evil product would emerge, and the first one is the Doctor himself.

Only 1,000 will be made, the first of the Dr. Horrible maquette series. $69.95, shipping in February 2010.
TV shows cheap at Amazon's Black Friday blowout
I'm not planning on presenting exhaustive lists of Black Friday sales — far too many other sites are doing that — but I am going to point out the ones I actually buy from, such as Amazon's. They put a lot of their stuff on sale plus they've matched many other stores' sales, so now is an excellent time to pick up some DVDs.
Example: Best Buy has seasons 1-10 of The Simpsons on sale for $10.99 – $12.99, but I have all those. Instead I just ordered season 12 from Amazon for $14.99.
Seasons of House for $12.99. Dr. Who for $41.99
, half the regular price. Black Adder Remastered: The Ultimate Edition
for just $41.99, half off the price and worth every penny.
Plus movie DVDs like Coraline for $8.99 and Star Trek (Single-Disc Edition) for 9 bucks
.
If you were interested in getting them anyway (as I was), now's the time to nab 'em.
Last day for the awesome CSTS charity auction: Dr. Horrible, Serenity, The Guild, Dollhouse stuff

Today's your last chance to win some amazing Can't Stop the Serenity auctions and benefit Equality Now. Up for grabs: a Serenity mini-poster signed by Joss Whedon, a Dr. Horrible poster print signed by Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day, a copy of The Guild DVD signed by the cast, assorted fan packs of merchandise, more autographs, and even an amazing one-hour tour behind the scenes of the Dollhouse set with costume designer Shawna Trpcic. Check out the whole list here. It's down to the final hours so you'd best get over there.
Money raised from the auctions will be included in the CSTS 2009 Global Donation Total, which currently stands at US $128,000. Your bids will help CSTS to reach this year’s goal of US $150,000 raised for charity!
Also included: the set of chopsticks used (almost) in the movie that I won from serenitymovie.com back in the day.
QMx to make stuff for Firefly, Dr. Horrible
Announced at the Creation con yesterday, QMx will soon be making officially licensed collectibles for Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. We're talking props, ships, t-shirts, maquettes and novelties (keychains, bumper stickers, etc.) So what do you want to see?
Me, I'd suggest for replica catalyzers, blinking van-top bombs with magnetic bottoms for personal use, Vera, the big red button, letters from Bad Horse, a variety of pistols, and maquettes including the Dr. Horrible crew, a bathing Inara and a naked Mal on a rock. Let's go, people!
An Alliance uniform cap, maybe
New, at the Prop Store of London: an Alliance uniform cap. But the description puzzles me:
A purple cap with a triangular patch on the front made for the sci-fi action film Serenity. The cap is similar to the version worn by the Alliance soldiers onboard the Operatives ship when it is attacked by the Reavers. One size fits most.
"Similar to"? Is it an actual costume prop or a replica? The price ($59) suggests it's a real costume prop — too pricey for a home-made or licensed replica, I would think — but maybe one that never saw screen time, which would cost much more. And it's listed under Props, instead of Replicas. The Prop Store is usually better about such distinctions. Maybe they couldn't conclusively identify where it was used, so declined to say either way?
Whichever it is, it's a nice looking cap for your purple-belly friends.
Firefly DVD on sale at Best Buy for 13 bucks
For the next two weeks (until Nov. 14) Best Buy has the Firefly DVD set on sale for $12.99. Doesn't get much cheaper than this, and you won't find a better return on your investment. For less than a buck an episode, you can get some of the best entertainment ever put on TV.
More to the point, you almost certainly already have a copy if you're reading my site but now it's cheap enough for you to buy another copy or two to give out as presents or just loan to friends and coworkers.
Or if you're like me, it's time to buy a replacement copy for the one you've already been loaning out that's getting a little ragged.
Don't know yet if the prices are the same in the regional stores — anyone? — but this is one of the best deals ever for this set. And I understand some minor gift-giving holiday is coming up soon…
The Guild "Spires of Dragonor" now available
