Nathan Fillion IS Green Lantern
Or at least he is in this amazing fan-made movie trailer that's sweeping across the interwebs. Hollywood? There's not a lot coming out this summer that looks as interesting as this does. Might want to do something about that…
I really wanted those beans
OK, this is new. Someone on eBay is selling "Tracey's beans" from the episode "The Message," complete with a can opener and Independents Army ration card.
Each can comes complete with its own P-38 Can Opener attached and an Independent Army ration Card, ready for you to fill out. Not something you can find on the store shelf all the time.
(Not actual screen used props, just the same type as used in the series. Except for the ration card. I made that, thought it looked cool.)
I love stuff like this. Don't wait for some purplebelly to sneak up behind you, go get your bean-eating badge!
Update: check the comments for some tips on this auction. Thanks!
Every Robert B. Parker book, explained
Self-sufficiency. Courage. Honor. Doing what's right. Male friendship. Tough men who quote literature. Funny dialogue. Characters who don't know how to act like a man and will therefore always lose. The one true love. And the lack of any real threat.
In the last two days I read two of Robert B. Parker's recent books, "Chasing the Bear" (a young Spenser novel) and "Resolution," the second in his Everett Hitch western series. Guess what the themes were?
I love his books. I reread the Spenser series every couple of years, love the Jesse Stone series. Never got into the Sunny Randall books. Like the westerns. I tend to get his stuff in hardback soon after they come out because I know they'll be passed around the household.
But…
First look: QMx's Serenity model paint test
QMx has been working diligently on creating the ultimate Serenity model, and over at FireflyShipWorks.com (where you can follow the progress) they've posted the first shots of the paint tests. And it's looking pretty sweet. The attention spent to give each panel of armor-plating its own look is insanely detailed, and for a good reason.
This is where you can start to really see the difference between a mass-produced replica and a professionally-made film-quality replica: Artistry. Someone completely immersed in Serenity’s design for months, who knows her intimately and with mad skills of simulation, will personally see to it your Serenity will be able to fool even the unforgiving eye of the camera. Remember, before CG there were individually-handcrafted film models. And that’s what creating here.
Boldly eat, where no one has… that doesn't sound right
Finally, a collectible that's actually useful for something!
The limited edition version of these Star Trek Starfleet Academy Titanium Sporks engraved with the Starfleet logo and motto sold out quickly, but you can get these standard issue eating utensils right away. Nosh like a Starfleet officer!
Just like the one Kirk used while a student (perhaps even while planning to cheat at the Kobayashi Maru scenario), these are laser engraved with the Starfleet emblem and other stuff which we'll tell you about soon. And remember, we know how important it is for you to hold a replica of Spock's Student Spork at the premier of the new movie! Live long, and prosper.
River and Jayne get bloody… on new shirts

The new designs of licensed Serenity T-shirts from Stylin' Online look decidedly red. They've got a new River shirt and a new version of the "Let's Be Bad Guys" Jayne shirt. Plus, you know, the zillions of other designs they have. Check 'em out!
Autographed Serenity comics, cheap!

Well, relatively cheap. Way cheaper than you'll find on eBay, certainly.
258 Authentic is having a blowout sale and selling Serenity comics signed by Adam Baldwin, Ron Glass and Morena Baccarin. I've bought several of these from him before, they're just as promised with a certificate of authenticity included. This is an excellent price for an autograph alone, and you get the comic as well! (Read it carefully)
I'm expanding my pimping from Serenity to other interests, so this is Adam Baldwin from Chuck, Alan Tudyk from Dollhouse, and Morena Baccain from V. Ahem.
Thanks to whedonesque for the heads up.
Blue Sun Grain Alcohol T-shirts, new from QMx
UPDATE: QMxonline.com has these for sale now.
While I was bouncing around TFAW.com and catching up, I noticed this fetching little number in the preorder-section: Blue Sun 100% Grain Alcohol shirts!
The Blue Sun Grain Alcohol T-shirt comes on a white 6.1 ounce, 100-percent cotton Gildan t-shirt, the same high quality shirts used for the best-selling Cerberus t-shirts. Second in a new line of Serenity shirts fully licensed by Universal Studios.
What amuses me the most about these alcoholic promotions, besides how utterly cool they look? They're available in junior sizes. You grow up fast, out in the black…
