QMx Serenity Blueprints Reference Pack on sale now

Hie thee hence over to QMx and buy your Serenity Blueprints Reference Pack, they just went on sale.
Review: QMx Serenity Blueprint Reference Pack

The Serenity blueprints from QMx were stunning, no question. Insanely detailed, carefully thought out, presented as beautiful art prints suitable for framing.
Only… they're kinda big to play with. And kinda pricey to pass around the gaming table, especially when Cheetos are involved (and they always are). Also, they're sold out.
So QMx produced a smaller version for reference and general fun. And, QMx being QMx, they added 23 more pages of material on top of that, everything you ever wanted to know – details, history, markings, marketing – Firefly-class transport Serenity. I can't wait for you guys to flip through the new stuff in here.
And so I won't, I'll tell you about them instead. Let's go page by page. First you get an intro by science fiction author Orson Scott Card – um, sorry. From curator Orison Scard, Aries Commonwealth, Ezra — on what a ship like Serenity means to us.

Next is a copy of Serenity's dedication plaque, sort of. Each page has detailed descriptions of the contents, including some backstory here and there, and the provenance of this plaque is a bit dodgy. Read the rest of this entry »
QMx Serenity Blueprint Reference Pack shipping Nov. 16
QMx has just announced that their new Serenity Blueprints Reference Pack will be going on sale at 10 p.m. EST, Nov. 16. You're gonna love this.

You say you want to look at your Serenity blueprints but they're too pretty to take off the wall and pass around? You say you want a copy you can use for role-playing, researching your fanfic, or just gazing at?
QMx has you covered, my friend, with this new Serenity Blueprints Reference pack. This 12"x16" full color set includes all 10 of the original blueprint pages, plus 23 more pages besides. You get full-page blueprints of the mule, Inara's shuttle, the signs and labels around the ship, the computer screens from the bridge, documentation on the creation and marketing of the ship itself, along with some flyers and a repair invoice — I'm guessing these were in the glove compartment — and even a look at the Firefly series 1, 2, and 4, and the military design. This is more information on our beloved ship than you've ever seen before, and it's all gorgeous and highly portable.
Plus you get an introduction by noted browncoat and science fiction great Orson Scott Card.
Just $29.95. Check here for more information and pictures, and then stop back tonight, I'll post a review and let you look at my copy.
Serenity blueprint sets on eBay
Did you miss out on QMx's Official Serenity Blueprint set? There are three of them up for grabs on eBay.
These blueprints represent the only official and complete documentation on Serenity's design, layout and systems, revealing details not seen in the movie or TV show or in any other previously published source material (official or fanmade.)
The blueprints are limited to a run of 750 copies and each set is signed by their creators, Geoff Mandel (graphic designer, Serenity) and Tim Earls (illustrator, Firefly; set designer, Serenity).
The set contains ten 18" x 24", full-color, heavyweight matte-finish sheets documenting the design, systems and layout of our favorite Firefly-Class Transport, Serenity. This blueprint set is the definitive resource for any Browncoat interested in the design and function of Serenity, including the shuttles and mule.
Each sheet is printed in full color and suitable for framing. These blueprints encompass months of work, detailing and verifying every aspect of Serenity, distilled from literally hundreds of set photos, architectural drawings, CGI files, and volumes of background material used to produce Serenity, the movie.
Preorder Jason Palmer's Serenity portraits and get ANOTHER free print
OK, before if you preordered the full set of 10 Serenity portraits (all the crewmembers plus Serenity) you'd get the exclusive Operative portrait. A cool deal, and well worth it. But now Jason Palmer is offering a second free print (and he ain't telling what it is).
He's finished his Wash pictured, as, you know, pictured, and he's off to finish the rest. The new estimated time of completion is by the end of 2007, so don't dawdle.
If you'd prefe to buy individual ones, "Wash" will be added to the store soon as a Giclee print and on canvas.
Joshua Middleton's Inara designs and Leinil Francis Yu's Serenity ships
Having mentioned — OK, pleaded — with someone to sell prints of Joshua Middleton's amazing Inara production designs for the movie Serenity in my review of the hardcover edition of "Those Left Behind," it finally occurred to me to go looking for them online. You'd think someone who spends so much time parked in front of a computer would think of looking for a website sometime in the last two years…
And whaddayaknow, he has one where you can not only see his Inara designs, the Companion House, and his River cover, but you can also check out his incredible covers for American Virgin, NYX, and many more, and his own creator-owned work "Sky Between Branches." Head to www.joshuamiddleton.com and gaze your fill. You can also follow his new projects and get glimpses of lots of work-in-progress pieces (and videos of how he works) at his blog.
While I was poking around, I also found Leinil Francis Yu's Simon cover and Serenity production artwork (with comments!) on his DeviantArt page.
Why doesn't anyone tell me these things? Off to surf for more Serenioty artwork…
Sneak peek at Jason Palmer's Wash portrait
Despite delays from con appearances and a heavy workload — and yay for him for getting the recognition his talent deserves! — artist Jason Palmer is still working on his crew portraits. Here's a peek at the line drawing for his Wash painting, the latest in the set.
Remember, you can buy the portraits separately but if you preorder the entire set of nine crewmembers and the ship you'll get a free 11th portrait of the Operative, only available to preorder customers. Available as 13"x19" Giclee prints signed, numbered, and limited to 300 prints, or as Fine Art canvas stretched and framed in a 14"x20" gallery style thin black canvas frame (no glass). Signed and numbered, limited to 100 copies.
Jason's artwork has stunned and delighted fans, cast, and Joss alike by capturing everything we love about the characters in these magnificent portraits. Check out his site for more Firefly and Serenity artwork, as well as licensed artwork for Star Wars, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Harry Potter, and more. And don't miss his SerenityStuff interview here!

River head apparatus artwork
In case you wanted a closeup look at what was shoved into River's head, the Prop Store of London is offering production artwork of that exact creepy beastie.
This printed production used artwork features conceptual designs for the head apparatus seen at the beginning of the film, worn by River (Summer Glau) in the laboratory. The picture has ‘Serenity – Director: Joss Whedon, Production Designer: Barry Chusid’ printed in the corner. Measures 43cm x 28cm (17” x 11”).
QMx Blue Sun Travel Poster set now at Amazon
OK, it's still ultimately coming from QMx, but if you prefer shopping through Amazon now you've got the choice. I'm a big Amazon fan. It's the first online store I found that has the same effect on me as a regular bookstore: it is nearly impossible for me to go in for a book without stumbling across at least one other one I didn't know about and now must own. If Amazon ever develops a virtual version of a clearance heap you have to pass to get to the science fiction section, I'm doomed.
Check out the posters at Amazon, and if you like 'em see if you can liven up the review section a little bit, let folks know how shiny these posters are. Every way we can spread the word — and I realize how culty I'm sounding here — is good.
