During last week's Browncoat Cruise, Ron Glass said Joss had given the OK for him to reveal some tidbits about Book. As follows:

1. There will be a Dark Horse Comic released next year about Book called The Shepherd's Tale
2. A part of Shepherd Book is artificial
3. He found God in a bowl of soup
4. Book is best known for his greatest failure
5. "Derrial" is not his real name. He took that name from a man he killed.

No other details on the comic available so far, but keep checking back.

"I created this PR piece because I was excited that Done The Impossible was actually selected to screen in six film festivals – no small feat with the number of entries festivals receive, and the 36+ festivals I entered into. And that's a small victory for the fans too. Plus, we probably added a few Browncoats into the fold (grin)"

This one-sheet (click for a larger version) will appear first (after here) in the souvenier book that will be given to attendees of the Browncoat Cruise, sailing Dec. 1 from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas with a cargo hold full of Browncoats, cast members, and the Bedlam Bards. The 30+ page, full color souvenier book is a collectable by itself, crammed full of bios of guests, staff, volunteers, and donors, with cardstock cover art by Adam-Levermore Rich — designed in the same spirit as the QMx travel posters — and featuring ads for the 76th Battalion, AbbyShot, the Ariel Ambulance, Artcat Designs, The Bellflower, Big Damn Chefs – Freedom From Hunger, Blackmarket Beagles, the Browncoat Ball, Can't Stop the Serenity, DragonWeave Jewelry, Done The Impossible, Fan Done, Firefly Cargo Bay, Kids Need to Read, Out to the Black Outfitters, Poplollies, QMx, the Serenity RPG, Starfury, The Signal, and The Wooten Center.

Attendees may also order the unofficial travel poster, designed by Adam.

Limited to 500 copies, you must have a passenger number to order so if you're not going you'd better find someone who is and beg them to preorder one for you. Passengers will be picking up their posters onboard, and if the posters sell out they will not be offered to non-attendees. (If there are any left you may be able to order them, but we won't know until after the cruise.)

Bon voyage, Browncoat Cruise people! Remember, love keeps her afloat when she oughta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Just something to keep in mind.

Even if you can't go, you might consider supporting this fan-run event by donating. While the cruise itself is a certainty — no last minute Bashing here — some problems with cruise bookings may put the organizers slightly in the red and your help would be appreciated. Donors will get listed in the Souvenier Book if they wish. I'd like to stress that this is entirely voluntary and the cruise will happen regardless. We'd just like to make sure the organizers can afford some beans afterwards.

There is one catch, they can't hold the rooms for us for much longer,

Also, the price is a bit more that it was earlier this year, because
we have to pay the current rate.

We don't have our store updated with the new prices, but prices will
range between $920 and $1399 per person depending on the room type you
choose.

I'm not bitter. I'm delighted for Paul Domalavage who won a cabin berth for two on the Browncoat Cruise this December. The cruise will be traveling to Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico, and cruisers will be accompanied by several Whedony friends including Ron "Book" Glass and Michael "Niska" Fairman. The Browncoat Cruise sets sail December 1, 2007, for five days, leaving from San Diego and visiting Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico. So far guests include Ron Glass, Michael (Niska) Fairman, Claire (Buffy's "Glory") Kramer, and the Bedlam Bards. Autograph and photo opportunities will be available but this is more of a cruise than a con, so plan to relax accordingly.
