Can't Stop the Serenity in Second Life

sl_csts.jpg

This June, Browncoats around the world will be gathering once again to watch the Big Damn Movie on the big screen and raise money for charity. "Can't Stop the Serenity" raised over $65,000 for Equality Now last year and this year they're shooting for 50 theaters in Australia, Austria, England, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, France, and the U.S.

Unfortunately, it won't be showing in Second Life despite efforts by rikomatic and others (since we would be streaming the DVD, instead of the actual movie print, which involves different companies and licenses). Fortunately, we can still promote it and raise money for the cause.

So I'm proud to announce that official Can't Stop the Serenity t-shirts and posters are now available at Big Red Button in Washtown, Second Life's largest Browncoat settlement. Posters are $100L and tees are $200L (roughly 50 cents and a buck US$, respectively), with 100% of sales going to Equality Now.

Get more details on your local showing (and info on ordering real posters and tees) from the Can't Stop the Serenity site.

Can't Stop the Prototype

prop_perspexcard.jpgThe Prop Store of London is offering a prototype of the message block seen in Serenity, which is pretty cool, although since I recall seeing this a couple of times before I have to wonder if they had a lot of them or if this is the same one, getting sold back and forth, traveling the globe in search of a home… which, come to think of it, is also pretty cool.

Anyway, it's made from Perspex with a silvery circuit board pattern on one side. There is a slight chip in the side of the Perspex. Measures approx. 12cm x 8.5cm x 1.5cm (4.75" x 3.25" x 0.5").

Limited edition Can't Stop the Serenity teaser poster

cantstopteaserposter.jpgPeople across the world are gearing up for this year's Can't Stop the Serenity event, where showings of Serenity will be held on or around June 23 (Joss' birthday) to benefit Equality Now. Last year over $65,000 dollars was raised from events in 47 cities around the world from Browncoats who gathered and partied and auctioned and sang and just shindigged their hearts out before watching the magic happen all over again on the big screen.

Even if you can't make it to one of the shows — none close to you? organize your own — you can still help by donating or by buying Can't Stop the Serenity merchandise, and the first thing up is an incredible full-color 27? x 40? teaser poster by BlackMarketBeagles.com's Adam Levermore-Rich. This isn't the final version, which will be released in May and contain the sponsor logos and list of participating cities. This one is a limited run of 500 copies, available now, and once they're gone they're gone. $20, plus shipping, and they're only available from the following sources:

Dallas: http://dallas.cantstoptheserenity.com
Pittsburgh: http://pabrowncoats.blogspot.com
Charlotte: tanyamorris2001@yahoo.com
Raleigh: raleighbrowncoat@gmail.com
