Serenity patches, of some sort, on sale at TFAW

Remember the Serenity 2008 patch set I mentioned a while ago? TFAW has it for sale! And still doesn't have descriptions or any pictures of any of the four patches in the set except the one.

"Collect four patches as seen in Joss Whedon's sci-fi epic, Serenity, with this patch set!"

Which is well and good but we don't get to see which patches or what sizes, making it kinda hard to tell if it's a good deal or not. However, I did some poking around and found that Forbidden Planet is selling four individual patches, including the one shown at TFAW, so if I had to guess I'd say these are what you'd be getting:

Still no descriptions or sizes, but at least we have pictures. Please note that I do not know for certain these are in the set at TFAW – although I'll try to verify it – so buyers beware.

Updated: yup, those are the patches in question, which I prolly would have noticed had I clicked on the "more pictures" links underneath the main pic. Thanks Adam (in the comments) for the heads up.

Patches N Pins now has cap-sized Ariel EMT patches

pnp_arielcap.jpgPatchesNPins had Ariel patches before, but never one sized for the cap. Until now.

They now have one that's 2.75"x2.5", just right for your noggin. Originally they had planned for the shoulder patch to serve, but it didn't quite work.

If you've already bought the 5 patch set, they'll be sending you one of these free of charge. How cool is that?

New from TFAW.com – Patches and pictures

tfaw_patchesnpics.jpg

Just noticed in TFAW.com's preorder pile – which is crammed with Serenity goodies and T-shirts coming out in the next few months – these two new, somewhat vague items.

First we have a Serenity Patch Set: "Collect four patches as seen in Joss Whedon's sci-fi epic, Serenity, with this patch set!" Which is well and good but we don't get to see which patches or what sizes.

And the Serenity Collages 2008 Photo Set: "Revisit Joss Whedon's Serenity with this collection of five photo collages featuring characters from the hit film! Featuring Inara, River, Mal, Wash, and Simon, these collages measure 8' x 10' and are suitable for framing or autographing!"

Serenity merchandise junkie though I am, I'll need more info on both these items before I plunk down the asking prices, even with TFAW's 20% off pre-order pricing. $22.39 for the patches is reasonable enough for good quality, but $23.19 for 5 pictures? Ehh. I'll wait for a better description. UPDATED: The pics looked familiar so I checked over at the Creation Entertainment Serenity store, and they've got all 4 patches and 5 collage pics for sale individually and you can order them right now. But if you're buying the sets, preordering them from TFAW is cheaper.

But check out the rest of the pre-order stuff. Tons of shirts, hoodies, mugs, lunchboxes, and a Reaver ship ornament are all waiting to be drooled over, at 20% off.

Wash's Lyndono patch at Patches n Pins

pp_washpatch.jpgThe good folks at Patches 'n' Pins, not satisified with having more sci-fi patches than anyone else already, have added another one to the mix: the "Lyndono" patch seen on Wash's jumpsuit.

3 1/2" across, just $7. Nice and bright, with crisp colors.

Don't forget to check out all the other 'versy patches and pins they have: Independent patches, Alliance patches, medical patches and more.

Badges of… well, not honor, per se…

prop_allianceguardbadges.jpgNew at The Prop Store of London, a set of 5 Alliance guard badges.

Adorned on a suedish-looking background, this display also includes a still from the movie depicting River thinking about busting the collective asses of the Operative's men, and a laser-cut Serenity logo.

Perfect for showing off your old service badges (for them what worked for the Alliance) or your old fight trophies (for them what beat up the Alliance, often in bars).

Turns out you do need badges

prop_washbadges.jpgNow you can can own the badges from Wash's jumpsuit in a nice framed display from The Prop Store of London.

Arranged with stills from the movie and a laser-cut logo, these three badges adorned the sleeves of the jumpsuit Wash wore during most of the movie. Cosplayers, take note.

For those people interested in patches but lacking in funds, check out Browncoat Patches.
