Serenity costumes at The Prop Store

prop_costumes.jpg

Or, rather, there were. The last ones to come up for sale sold almost immediately, so me telling you that you could have bought Mal's shirt and pants, or Inara's outfit from the last scene, or an Alliance Pilot's uniform if you had only noticed them in time would just be cruel.

However, you should take this as a suggestion to start monitoring The Prop Store of London a little more closely. And apparently in the middle of the night.

Serenity weapons on sale at Museum Replicas

replica_reavers.jpgMuseum Replicas is selling out their licensed Serenity weapon replicas and I don't think you're going to see them this cheap again. The Reaver set River wielded, consisting of a katana-like sword and a hand axe, has been marked down from $295 to the closeout price of $150. These are quality, high carbon tempered steel weapons, and they come complete with a full color Serenity wall plaque for display.

Then there's the Operative's sword, which was $165 but has been marked down to $99.  One piece, high carbon, tempered steel sword with a wooden grip finished with a wrapped cord, comes complete with an adjustable leather back scabbard with nylon straps.

Seriously, these have never been this reasonable. I'm checking the couch for change even as we speak..

Bank heist money, signed by practically everybody

prop_moneysigned.jpgHere's a heck of a collectable. New at The Prop Store of London, one of the bank heist money bills used in the movie, signed by… well, I'll let them tell it.

This specially made prop money was used in the heist scene at the beginning of the movie and also in the Maidenhead bar sequence. Made from paper with “Five Hundred” printed on it and with a wonderfully colourful oriental dragon and planet designs on it. It has been signed by cast members Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher, Summer Glau, Ron Glass, Yan Feldman, Rafael Feldman and Christina Hendricks. It comes framed and glazed with a colour photograph of the cast and the movie logo has been laser cut out of velvet finish mount board. The display measures 37cm x 72cm (14.5" x 28.5"). All signatures were obtained at the Flanvention in Los Angeles.

You could win the original Jayne hat!

originaljaynehat.jpgAnnounced at the California Browncoats site: Adam Baldwin will be auctioning off the original Jayne hat to benefit the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation.

Fans of Firefly will recognize this hat as the one Jayne Cobb received from his Ma in the episode “The Message.”

The auction for THE Jayne Hat will start on September 24, 2008 and will run until October 4.  Keep an eye out for the auction through the CABC eBay page.

The MCLEF uses donated funds to provide assistance “to children of Marines or Federal law enforcement personnel who were killed on duty or died under extraordinary circumstances while serving our country at home or abroad. These funds enable us to provide these children with scholarships for their higher education.”

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… an axe

prop_riveraxe.jpgTell me your loved one wouldn't go crazy if he or she opened a brightly colored package on Christmas morning to find a rusty, battle-worn Reaver axe?

OK, on reflection "go crazy" might not be the reaction you want from a newly armed person…

The Prop Store of London is offering a Reaver axe, the one River used in the final scene. This is a metal "hero" weapon, meaning it was used onscreen.

It comes framed and glazed in a fantastic suede effect laser cut mount board with the movie logo and two movie stills. The display measures approx. 76cm x 46cm (30" x 18").

Happy holidays!

Buy Jayne's shirts and help the Marine Corp help children

ebay_bearscutoff.jpgAdam Baldwin and the California Browncoats are cleaning out Jayne's closet and you can help!

Adam Baldwin is auctioning off 13 shirts that he wore during the filming of Firefly and Serenity to benefit the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation. These shirts were all highly recognizable to Browncoats; each one was worn during a key scene in "Firefly" or "Serenity." (Of course, all scenes with Jayne were key scenes…)

The auctions will begin Nov. 14 and will continue until all the shirts are sold. You can see 'em all, including descriptions of when they appeared, at the California Browncoats site

The Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation uses donated funds to provide assistance “to children of Marines or Federal law enforcement personnel who were killed on duty or died under extraordinary circumstances while serving our country at home or abroad. These funds enable us to provide these children with scholarships for their higher education.”

Help kids and help yourself to the contents of Jayne's laundry sack.

Inara's metal arrow, this time

prop_inarametalarrow.jpg

This actually popped up some time ago, and I completely ignored it. See, The Prop Store of London just offered a rubber Inara arrow, so when this showed up I thought it was the same one — just ten bucks more — and didn't look closer. Turns out this is, in fact, a wood-and-metal one.

This arrow is made out of a light wood, has black feather fletching and a light metal tipped pointes. The bow and arrows were used by Inara in the end scenes when the group face the Reavers, but during post-production, the weapon was replaced by a gun with the use of CGI. The arrow measure 78cm (30.5”) long.

Always double check yourself, kids. Important safety tip, especially when dealing with arrows.
