What would have happened on Pushing Daisies?

pushingdaisies

I missed this when it came out, but thetorchonline.com got Brian Fuller to spill some of the season three secrets last month. Pushing Daisies, which was canceled and closed with a somewhat hurried wrap-up of many (but not all) of the dangling plot threads, had plenty of places to go:

We knew when we were shooting it that it was our last episode essentially. After we got into post and it was like, “Okay. That’s our last episode and it ends on a cliffhanger.” Because, as scripted, the last moment of the show was they open the door, and Chuck says to Vivian and Lily, “I’m alive,” and then it cuts to black. That would set up our back nine arc, which we were going to bring back George Hamilton as Ned’s father, and we just had so many balls up in the air that I was looking forward to bringing down and writing, but we just never got the opportunity.

Lots of details there about Chuck going after her father, and Ned going after her, and Vivian and Lily's split, and Olive's new life, and… Let's say I hope this continues, whether in comics or movies, or whatever. I want the rest of the story. And this is a good start.

New Pushing Daisies episode, costarring Gina Torres, coming Saturday night

emerson_lilaThe second of the last three unaired "Pushing Daisies" episodes is on ABC Saturday night at 10 p.m., and you won't want to miss it! This one costars… well, let's go to the synopsis:

"Water and Power." Emerson gets a lead in his daughter Penny's whereabouts when he investigates the murder of millionaire Roland Stingwell (guest star Fred Williamson). The prime suspect: Penny's no-good mama, Lila Robinson (guest star Gina Torres), who ran off with the girl years ago. Meanwhile, an awkward Randy Mann (guest star David Arquette) tries to romance Olive. Written byPeter Ocko,  story by Lisa Joy & Jim Danger Gray.  Directed byDean White.

Can't wait to see Gina doing comedy again. She's got a brilliant sense of timing, perfect for a bizarre show like this. For more of a sneak peek, check out the exclusive coverage over at ThePiemaker.com.

If you miss it, don't fret. Just be sure to preorder the second season DVD, coming July 21.

Sigh. Only one more to go after this. Here's hoping for comics, a movie, something. There are too many loose ends still dangling in a very dangly way!

New "Pushing Daisies" episode now online

pushingdaisies11

"Pushing Daisies," the brilliantly wacky show from Brian Fuller about a piemaker who can (temporarily) raise the dead, was canceled by ABC last year before all of the existing episodes were seen. There are three left, which will be on the second season DVD coming soon, but "Daisies" fans wanted them now, and ABC finally said they'd be broadcast over the summer. Summer's here!

The first one, episode 11, "Window Dressed to Kill," aired last Saturday but with the lack of advertising on ABC's part you might have missed it. No worries! It's now available for free viewing at abc.com's "Pushing Daisies" site (you can also find it by searching at Hulu), and for sale at iTunes.

What do you get? Olive brooding over the Piemaker's revelation from the previous episode that he might have feelings for her, or not. Cherry hanging. Ned renouncing his abilities. The resurgence of Randy Mann the taxidermist. Reappearing kidnappers. Emerson solving a case without Ned's magic finger, but with the help of the Alive Again Avenger. And more!

And be sure to preorder the second season DVD, coming July 21, for a better price!
