Buy the thing that Serenity crashed into
Remember in Serenity when it spiralled down through the massive air battle, whoosh! and dodged all the other ships, zing bwow! and then got hit with the EMT thingies zap! and Wash barely managed to control it well enough to slide it into a big hanger where it got all bashed up, smash crunch!?
This is one of the things in the hanger that it hit.
This is a hanger vehicle miniature model from the 2005 sci-fi adventure movie Serenity. When the crew is being chased by Reavers they must crash land or “glide” the ship into the hanger after they were hit by enemy fire. The Firefly ship lands in the hanger knocking out scaffolding and comes to a screeching halt next to this all terrain vehicle. The miniature is 9” long made of plastic model with 5 wheels and bound together with screws. This miniature vehicle is in good condition.
Huge prop auction includes stuff from Firefly, Buffy, more

The massive props store 20th Century Props is going out of business and holding an auction for its final pieces, and there's quite a bit of familiar stuff in there. Wooden chairs, furniture and assorted background props from Firefly (such as the neon Chinese character sign to the right), what looks like the pool table from The Bronze, and much more. This is a rare chance for Browncoats; props from Serenity pop up regularly, but three aren't many Firefly props available.
The two pieces pictured above, though, I don't recognize offhand. They're listed as being from Firefly; the first is "STATION, SPACE/BATTLE, KEYBOARD, FIREFLY" and the second is "CONTROL STATION, MILITARY/SPACE, MULTIPLE KNOBS & GAUGES, GR, FIREFLY". Anyone recognize these?
The auction runs from July 28 to August 1, and you can bid online. Happy hunting!
Little Damn Heroes Jayne now available for preorder
If you were at Comic-Con in San Diego this week, you've already seen him (and you might have even seen Adam Baldwin's reaction). But now you can order your very own Jayne!
Third in QMx's hit series of Serenity Little Damn Heroes limited-edition animated maquettes, "Thrilling Heroics" stars none other than the man they call Jayne (Cobb) himself. Standing 4.5 inches tall, the Jayne maquette is cast in resin, hand-painted and comes holding Jayne's very favorite gun, Vera. He's sculpted wearing the cunning hat knit by his ma and wearing his Blue Sun t-shirt. The one what got River so riled.
Based on Adam Levermore's "Little Damn Heroes" series of cartoons, "Thrilling Heroics" is limited to 1,000 numbered pieces. $49.95, shipping September 15. Order now!
(Some) Details on Titan Books new "Firefly: Still Flying" book released
Titan Books has released a bit of info and the cover of their 3rd Firefly Companion book, "Firefly: Still Flying." They're keeping some stuff a secret for now, but we know it'll be the same format as the previous two.
In Still Flying, we’ll be uncovering even more secrets from the series, stuffing the book full of unseen material, including new photos, props, behind-the-scenes secrets and much more besides.
The first two were excellent resources (reviews here and here), as all Titan tie-in books tend to be, with plenty of new interviews, insider tidbits, and full-color photos even hard-core fans haven't seen. I'm hopeful this will be a worthy addition.
Titan's on a roll this year. In addition to this they're also working on the official movie novelization and official Visual Companion
for Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's upcoming movie "Cabin in the Woods." And the collection of Kevin Smith SModcasts, "Shootin' the Sh*t With Kevin Smith." And the movie book
for Mark Millar's "Kick-Ass."
QMx finally unveils The Big Damn Replica Serenity model… oh, and the Enterprise
After months of teasing, QMx has finally brought out their biggest project yet: the film-quality, made-to-order Serenity model.
Measuring 19"x12"x7", or 1:180 scale, this baby is incredibly screen-accurate right down to the bolts and weathering. Over 250 parts, hand-painted, with built-in lighting and engine effects. It doesn't get any more accurate than this.
When it came time to develop this replica, we could do no less. Every bolt, every seam and every asymmetrical plate has been recreated with exacting detail in this first and only screen-accurate replica. Years of intense effort have gone into all aspects of this model, from the sculpture taken directly from the movie CG master files to the paint job created to match not just the colors of the ship, but the materials as well.
Each one is made to order, and you can choose whether to have the lighting included or not. You can also choose various personal touches, like the position of the engines, whether the shuttles are docked or not, the name on the captain's plate and more.
No more than 500 will be made. They'll start taking orders September 30, 2009, which is a nice touch. I also note that a price is not listed anywhere on the page, but I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or relieved at this point
Go and gaze, and check out the video of the lighting effects. It'll be on display at the Sideshow Collectibles booth at Comic-Con (#1929) along with their other new launch, the Enterprise replica.
In other news, QMx has a frickin' amazing Enterprise replica.

Original Operative sword from Serenity up for sale, again

Remember the Operative sword The Prop Store of London offered, way back when? Possibly their very first Serenity prop?
The owner, faced with hard times, is selling it on eBay.
SERENITY / FIREFLY FANS! This is the item you've been waiting for! Unfortunately, for some (me) these fun (crap) economic times have lead to some interesting items coming out of the woodwork. I purchased this sword almost the instant it came up for sale. It was the very first Serenity prop to go through the London Prophouse. It comes with the certificate of authenticity and is in great shape. This was the stunt sword used in a lot of the fight scenes in the movie. You can trace a lot of the dings and scratches straight from the screen to the sword. Replicas are well and good, but this is your chance to own an actual piece of a very important movie. Can't stop the signal.
11th Hour comes to QMx
Browncoat favorite artist and legend 11th Hour, she of the guerrilla marketing posters for Firefly, the alternate DVD cover for Serenity, cover and interior design for the award-winning Serenity role-playing game, and creator of the Serenity-inspired T-shirt designs that were attacked by Universal-FOX as being infringing before they came to an agreement (coincidentally after a firestorm of fan outrage erupted, as well as some wise words from cooler heads higher up), has finally come to her new home: Quantum Mechanix, where she can now create licensed work and show Universal how it's done.
First up, "Serenity In Flight":
The t-shirt combines both Eastern and Western-influenced design elements into a mandala with our girl Serenity featured prominently in the center. The design also includes the four Chinese characters which represent the phrase "Never Give Up" down the right side. It comes on a black 6.1 ounce, 100-percent cotton Gildan t-shirt, offering the same high quality QMx t-shirts have become famous for. It is available in men's sizes small to 3XL and women's sizes small to 2XL. (Note: all shirt sizes are available while supplies last.)
11th's work is truly amazing, inspired by the 'verse without simplyaping what's been done before. I love everything she's done and I hope to see many more designs coming.
Jason Palmer announces a new line of Sereni-Tees T-shirts

Now we're talking. Jason Palmer is offering his amazing Firefly/Serenity artwork on T-shirts, just in time for the San Diego Comic-Con (because you didn't have enough to spend your money on, obviously).
12 designs are coming, but 3 of them can be preordered now and they'll be launched at the con (booth 4504). Those designs are Mal (charcoal tee for men, raglan top for women), Kaylee in her party dress (pink tee or tank top), and the Big Damn Heroes (light gray crew neck for men, silver babydoll crewneck for women, with a special black version coming, with black foil Serenity logo.
And the designs… you've already seen his prints, so you know they're nothing short of amazing. Ooh, I wonder if we'll get a Joss tee! Fingers crossed, fingers crossed…
All the shirts are made of 100% combed super-soft cotton, preshrunk and tagless for comfortable wear. They come in sizes S-2XL for men and S-L for women, and can be signed by Jason on request. $25 each. Order now!
Help QMx name their Serenity model
According to a recent post at Firefly Ship Works, they're edging ever closer to revealing the secrets of the insanely detailed Serenity model they've been developing. What will it all look like, how will it be mounted, and, finally, what will it cost? But right now they're trying to decide on the name, and they're looking for input.
* Official – she’s being produced with the full support of the studio.
* Studio Scale – at 19 inches, she’s exactly the size a filming miniature would likely have been.
* Film Quality – making a film-worthy model is about more than size. We’re making sure our Serenity has all the details a Hollywood model maker would want on their filming miniature before it went in front of the camera.
* Artisan – each ship will be handcrafted by a professional special effects model maker right here in the U.S.
* SFX – she’ll come with a sophisticated lighting effects package and maybe another surprise or two.Assuming you agree that naming her the “Official Film Quality Studio Scale Serenity Artisan Replica, SFX Edition” is a bit much, we’d love to hear your suggestions.
Head to fireflyshipworks.com and give them your suggestion. How often do you get to name a spaceship?
