Catching up – Kanye, iPods, and debating Colbert
The first election irregularities have appeared! Kanye West, furious at being named only the Best Hip Hop Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards, stormed the stage and launched a rant after not winning Best Video even though his video "Touch the Sky" "cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons." Best Video instead went to Justice and Simian for "We Are Your Friends." No word yet on whether Diebold machines were involved.

The Seven Stages of Owning an iPod. I've never actually owned one myself, but it turns out owning a puppy works exactly the same way.
And if you ever appear as a guest on The Colbert Report, Slate.com has a how-to guide to help you avoid looking stupid. Or more stupid than you need to, anyway.
Comedy Central not actually shooting own foot after all
Fret not, folks, the recent purge of Comedy Central shows like "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," "The Colbert Report," and "Southpark" were not, as industry insiders and college students feared, imminent signs of the apocalypse. Turns out that Comedy Central wasn't objecting to clips of those shows getting uploaded but they did get a bit cranky at all the complete episodes that were on there. "'Nothing says 'I am ashamed of you my government' more than 'Stewart/Colbert '08," Stewart said."
Ah, well. They could still be advisors. Watch the video here.
Catching up – Spoofing Discovery, listening to Bond, finding Neil Gaiman, and more
Try as the media might, I just can't get interested in the Diaz and Timberlake vs Paparrazzi story. I don't know which side to root against, so I'll wait until the TV movie.
Making fun of the shows on The Discovery Channel may not be as much fun anymore if they're asking for it, but I'm willing to give it a try. I'm thinking Stephen Colbert lightsabering Mike Rowe, just to kill two birds…
More after the jump.
Colbert: AP the biggest threat to America
Stung by a recent Associated Press article that didn't credit him for coining the word "truthiness," Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert has struck back.
The world's oldest news organization, Colbert says, is the "No. 1 threat facing America."
On Wednesday evening, Colbert placed the AP atop the Threat Down segment of "The Colbert Report" show. What was No. 2?
Bears.
